Cecil Anthony Gray, Sr.
Funeral services for Mr. Cecil Anthony Gray, Sr. will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, February 27, 2021, at Mount Zion Baptist Church in Grambling, with Pastor James Lewis Boatner officiating. Interment will follow at Grambling Memorial Garden.
Visitation will be held from 3 – 5 p.m. Friday, February 26, 2021at Kings Funeral Home in Ruston.
Gray was born July 28, 1951, in Grambling and passed away on February 15, 2021, after a prolonged illness.
He enjoyed a prolific 30-year career as an all-sports coach and classroom teacher that began at I. A. Lewis Elementary School in Ruston and ended at Grambling High School, from which he retired in 2014.
Several of his former players joined the professional ranks.
For many years, he was an instructor with the National Youth Sports Program held during the summers on the Grambling State University campus. He received numerous awards and accolades from his peers and students during his illustrious tenure.
Gray is survived by Charlene, his wife of 32 years; son Cecil Anthony Gray, II; Two brothers: Johnny (Leslie) Grambling, LA; James (Garland TX); Brother-in-law, Talio Ennis of Fort Washington, MD; Two uncles: Willie Blow of Bienville, LA and Leroy Blow of Arcadia, LA; Two nephews: Michael Ennis and Reginald Gray; Four nieces: Nikki, Latasha, Candace and LaShundra; and a host of other relatives and friends.
