Services will be held at First Baptist Church Homer on Thursday March 11, with visitation from noon until 2 p.m. with graveside service at St. Rest.
Barbara had been a member of First Baptist Homer since 1973, where she played piano and organ as well as teaching children’s choir and a women’s Sunday school class. She taught in Claiborne Parish for 20 years before working at the central office, where she was a supervisor for 17 years.
Barbara retired in 2010 to enjoy being a grandmother to her only child John’s two sons Jackson and Charlie. Barbara enjoyed attending their baseball games, where she was always found cheering for both teams and wanting them to “all have a good time.” She was a huge fan of high school sports while always stressing the importance of an education first.
Barbara and her three closest friends were affectionately called the Golden Girls. Barbara’s role was Dorothy, always the quickwitted straight talker. She was also known for her love of hats in all forms. Women attending the service are encouraged to wear hats in her honor.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you please make donations to the Barbara Fallin Monzingo Endowed Scholarship, in the College of Education at Louisiana Tech University Foundation.
Pallbearers are Lee Simms, Daniel Fallin, Michael Rister, Ron Payton, Benjamin Fallin and Tommy Elis. Honorary pallbearers are Lee Faulk, Mitch Marsalis, George Gamble, Ben Gamble, Jay Patchen, Cookie Ogden and Tony Gantt.
