GSU sweeps UAPB in SWAC play

Anaiyah Fultz led the Grambling State softball team in its two victories over the University of Arkansas Pine Bluff.


PINE BLUFF, Ark. — The Grambling State Lady Tigers defeated UAPB 14-1 and 6-4 in Sunday’s doubleheader in Southwestern Athletic Conference action at the Torii Hunter Softball Complex here.

Grambling exploded with 11 runs in the fourth inning in game one. Kayla Robinson finished 2-for-2 from the plate as she drove in two RBIs and scored two runs for the Lady Tigers while GSU catcher Nya Jones batted 2-for-3 and scored twice in the victory.

Anaiyah Fultz came up huge on offense and finished 2-for-4 from the plate with two runs scored along with a game-high three RBIs for the Lady Tigers.

In game two, The Lady Tigers (9-13 overall, 6-6 SWAC) poured in three runs in the first inning when Anaiyah Fultz generated an RBI single to left field that scored India Wells. Nya Jones then drove a two-run shot to right field that brought home Tytianna Robinson and Fultz.

UAPB responded with two runs in the third before Robinson stole home for the Lady Tigers. With the score tied at 4-4, GSU’s offense came in clutch as Robinson generated a two-run single in the victory.
