The Louisiana Tech Lady Techsters bowling team finished the year with a 3.764 GPA, which earned them All-Academic status by the National Tenpin Coaches Association.
For the secondstraight season, the Louisiana Tech women’s bowling team earned the fifth-best team GPA in the country to earn the National Tenpin Coaches Association (NTCA) All-Academic Team Award.
The Lady Techsters boasted a 3.764 team GPA during the 2020-21 campaign. Tech has now earned NTCA All-Academic recognition in all five seasons that Matt Nantais has been the head coach. The distinction is awarded to teams that earn a 3.2 GPA or better over the academic school year.
Nine Lady Techsters earned individual NTCA All-Academic honors, which are given to student-athletes registering at least a 3.4 GPA, including senior Kaitlyn Eder, junior Lindsay Manning, junior Kalia Patterson, junior Emily Rettig, redshirt sophomore Sara Howell-Floyd, sophomore Danielle Jedlicki, sophomore Emma Koch, sophomore Allie Leiendecker and sophomore Tara Spridco.
A record 59 bowling programs earned NTCA All-Academic honors along with 385 individual honorees.
The Lady Techsters previously had 12 student-athletes named to the 2020-21 Conference USA Commissioner’s Honor Roll, 11 named to the 2021 Southland Bowling League Academic Honor Roll and five received the 2020-21 C-USA Commissioner’s Academic Medal.
The academic honors cap a historic season for Louisiana Tech after the team earned its highest ranking in program history as the Lady Techsters were ranked fifth in the National Tenpin Coaches Association February Poll. Tech made its first national championship appearances at both the 2021 National Collegiate Women’s Bowling Championship and the Intercollegiate Team Championship (ITC).
At the NCAA Tournament, the Lady Techsters registered the first perfect Baker game in program history after bowling a 300.
Tech competed in 14 events and placed in the top-five at nine tournaments during the 2020-21 season.
Tech finished second at four tournaments, including the Southland Conference Championships. Eder and Leiendecker were named to the 2021 All-Southland Bowling League Third Team. Leiendecker was also named a NTCA All-American honorable mention.
