Allyson Sand of Michigan has signed on to bowl for the Louisiana Tech Lady Techsters.

Louisiana Tech women’s bowling head coach Matt Nantais announced on Friday the signing of Allyson Sand (Chesterfield, Mich.).

“I am looking forward to Allyson joining us this upcoming year,” Nantais said. “In the short amount of time she has been bowling, she has become a very competitive bowler. I look forward to seeing what she is going to accomplish when she gets here and joins the rest of the team. Her family has a great history in the sport and we are looking for her to continue the family tradition. Allyson is also a great team player which is one of the most important things we look for in our recruiting process.”

Sand was a four-year letterwinner at L’Anse Creuse High School-North. She was named first team all-county as a senior in 2021 and was first team all-state as a junior in 2020. Sand earned academic all-county accolades in all four years of her high school career. She registered a 202 average and helped her high school team finish in the top eight at state in 2018.

Louisiana Tech is coming off of a historic season as the team earned its highest ranking in program history as the Lady Techsters were ranked fifth in the National Tenpin Coaches Association February Poll.

Tech made its first national championship appearances at both the 2021 National Collegiate Women’s Bowling Championship and the Intercollegiate Team Championship (ITC). At the NCAA Tournament, the Lady Techsters registered the first perfect Baker game in program history after bowling a 300.

Tech competed in 14 events and placed in the top-five at nine tournaments during the 2020-21 season. Tech finished second at four tournaments, including the Southland Conference Championships.

Senior Kaitlyn Eder and sophomore Allie Leiendecker were named to the 2021 All-Southland Bowling League Third Team. Leiendecker was also named a NTCA All-American honorable mention.
