The Louisiana Tech men’s golf team will host the annual Jim Rivers Intercollegiate to kick off Tech’s 2021-22 campaign this weekend.
Tech will host 20 other golf programs to one of the premier golf courses in the south in the 2021 Jim Rivers Intercollegiate running from Sunday, Sept. 12, to Tuesday, Sept. 14, at Squire Creek Country Club and Golf Course.
Tech will take on a competitive field of teams including South Alabama, Louisiana-Lafayette, Arkansas-Little Rock, Houston, LSU, Southern Miss, UTSA, Middle Tennessee, Abilene Christian, Francis Marion, Lamar, Rice, Texas-Arlington, High Point, Central Arkansas, WKU, Tennessee-Chattanooga, ULM, Nicholls State and Troy. Individuals from Tennessee will also compete in the tournament to round out the field of 120 golfers.
“We’re excited to get the 2021-22 season started,” said head coach Matt Terry, the 2020-21 Louisiana Sports Writers Association (LSWA) Men’s Golf Coach of the Year. “Having 120 players coming to Squire Creek is great. I would love to have student-athletes, coaches, staff and all of the Tech Bulldog faithful come out and support their Bulldogs. It’s always great to show other teams how good we have it at Squire Creek and Louisiana Tech.”
The three-day event will begin on Sunday, Sept. 12, with tee times beginning at 7:30 a.m. CT on hole 10.
The event is free for fans to attend throughout the three-day tournament. Fans can also follow up-to-date scoring through live results at Golfstat.com.
