Grambling State drops home matchup with Arkansas-Little Rock
GRAMBLING — The Grambling State University women’s soccer team surrendered a first-half goal in a thriller of a matchup and could not recover in falling to Arkansas-Little Rock, 1-0, on Friday afternoon at the GSU Soccer Complex.
HOW IT HAPPENED
— Miranda Urbizu nearly broke the 0-0 tie in the 30th minute, but her shot sailed high.
— Fanney Einarsdottir gave UALR (2-2-1) the 1-0 with a goal in the 31th minute.
— The Lady Tigers (0-5) nearly tied the game four minutes later as Kamaron Powell’s shot was saved by UALR goalkeeper Paige Henry.
— Grambling State’s Laila Loring fired a shot in the 42nd minute, but it was stopped by Henry.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
— Rachel Pugh played all 78 minutes in the net for the Lady Tigers, recording one save on the day.
— Britt Verhees played the final 12 minutes in goal for GSU.
— Paige Henry recorded a pair of saves in 90 minutes of action for the Trojans.
— Grambling State finished with seven shots, including two on goal.
— UALR registered six shots, with a pair on target.
