Watson carries guidon for United States Naval Academy
Choudrant High Class of 2021 graduate Eli Watson, now enrolled at the United States Naval Academy, has been named the guidon carrier for the Brigade of Midshipmen. Honored as the guidon carrier for his unit, Watson is charged with standing in front of the unit alongside the commander or the commander’s representative and is the rallying point for troops to fall into formation when the order is given.
Watson is seen in formal dress and carrying the guidon during one of the five formal parades on Worden Field this semester. The parades are a visual presentation of the military discipline, professionalism and teamwork necessary to succeed as a member of the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps, and have been a part of the Naval Academy training since its establishment in 1845.
