Pamela Webb
A memorial service celebrating the life of Pamela Douglas Webb (Pam) will be held on December Monday 27, 2021 at 11 a.m. in the Burkhalter Chapel of Trinity United Methodist Church in Ruston.
Visitation will be held from 10-11 a.m. prior to the service in the fellowship area. Pam donated her body to science via the Willed Body program at LSUHS.
Pam was born on November 18, 1944, in Baltimore, Maryland, to Roy Douglas Webb and June Baird Webb and passed away peacefully on November 15, 2021, surrounded by her family following challenging Parkinson’s disease and a reoccurrence of cancer. Pam was preceded in death by her parents.
Pam grew up in Mansfield, and graduated from Mansfield High School where she was an honor student and a member of the band, a majorette, and drum major. She always loved music and played the clarinet and piano. Pam received a BS degree in Secondary Education from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge and was a member of Delta Gamma Sorority. Pam also received a Master of Education in Counseling and Guidance from the University of Hawaii. Pam loved adventure and travel and applied to several exciting places prior to graduating from LSU. She landed a teaching position with the Hawaii Board of Education and began her teaching career on the big island of Hawaii.
She later transferred to the island of Oahu and spent most of her Hawaii life in the Honolulu area teaching and counseling at Radford High School for most of her 44-year career in education.
Pam also taught inmates in the Hawaii correctional system to help them obtain a GED so they would have better job opportunities upon their release. Pam cared deeply for all her students and was beloved because she was fair to each child and encouraged them to be the best they could be.
Pam loved the ethnic diversity of the Hawaiian Islands and said living in Hawaii helped open up her heart and mind to different ethnic groups, their cultures and cuisines. Pam enjoyed the beach, snorkeling, scuba diving, deep sea fishing, and visiting all the outer islands.
She also enjoyed regular gym workouts and any time spent with Judy Hiramoto, one of her dearest friends in Hawaii. In addition to her love of teaching, Pam loved animals and was a regular volunteer at the Honolulu Animal shelter. Pam’s Christian faith was important and she found a wonderful faith family at the Makiki Christian Church in Honolulu, Hawaii, where she sang with the praise team, made precious friends, and participated in many church activities.
When Pam moved to Ruston, she became an active member of Trinity United Methodist Church and sang in the Trinity Chancel Choir. Pam was an avid reader, a competitive bridge player, and an adventurous traveler. Pam’s travels took her to Japan, Viet Nam, Korea, Cambodia, Italy, Switzerland, Tahiti, Alaska, and a Danube River cruise and a 35-day freighter cruise.
Pam also enjoyed wonderful bridge buddy trips to numerous states in the USA and enjoyed time spent with her great friends. She found pleasure in growing beautiful flowers, tending her small garden and sharing fresh produce with her friends.
She was a great caregiver, sharing food and encouraging visits with her friends and neighbors.Those left to cherish her memory include her brother Joe Webb (Joy) sister Linda Webb Tuten (Jim) her nieces Stacey Webb Feken (Max), Kim Webb, Shannon Sumrall, Sara Sumrall (RB Ramos), Rachel Tuten Simmons (Sean) Elizabeth Tuten Eley (Nathan), wonderful grand nieces and nephews, her choir and Sunday School friends, childhood forever friend Linda Whatley (Wayne) and countless loving friends and bridge buddies she made over the years.
The family would like to the thank her many friends, the staff of Trinity UMC, Alpine Rehabilitation Center, Tender Touch Care Givers, Compassus Hospice and wonderful Mrs. Della Huey for the supportive care given during Pam’s final days. Memorials to the Trinity UMC Chancel Choir, Heifer International or the charity of your choice would be appreciated.
