Officiating the service will be Bro. Mark Shiers and Bro. Stephen Boyd. Interment will follow in Riser Cemetery in Ruston, with Gary Jack Boyd and Gary Stephen Boyd officiating at the graveside service under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Ruston.
A visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. until service time in the chapel. Kitty was born June 15, 1926, in Lincoln Parish at the old Riser Homestead built in 1840. She passed to her eternal life on February 5, 2022, at the age of 95 years, 7 months, and 21 days.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Ernest (Jack) Riser and Carrie Belle Mallory (Jewel) Riser of Lincoln Parish; several uncles, aunts, and cousins; 7 siblings; several inlaws; and one niece, Jane Boyd Brush Vitale.
She was also preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Alexander (Alex) Boyd and her oldest son, Robert Alec (Bob) Boyd.
Kitty is survived by her younger son, Gary Jack Boyd and wife Barbara Ann Liner Boyd of Ruston; two grandchildren, Gary Stephen Boyd and wife Ariel Wilson Boyd of Berea, Kentucky and Karen Elizabeth Boyd of Ruston, Louisiana; two great grandchildren, Ava Charlotte Boyd and Laura Elizabeth Boyd of Berea, Kentucky; two nephews, Robert (Bob) Boyd Brush and family and David Boyd Brush both of Nutley, New Jersey; and many other relatives and friends.
Kitty was a longtime member of First Presbyterian Church of Ruston where she worked for the Lord in her duties as a Deacon’s — and later, Elder’s — wife alongside her husband, Al, and teaching her children to love the Lord.
She was a graduate of Ruston High School. Her working career spanned from that of Dental Assistant at Green Clinic under Dr. Felton Green in the 1940s to decades of Office Administration and Management — being Assistant Office Manager at Lewis and Co. of Ruston — all the while multi-tasking duties as a volunteer event planner, housewife, and mother of two.
She always presented herself as a true “Southern Lady,” remember her middle name “Belle,” who was loved by all.
She went to her Lord Jesus and her eternal home following a sudden failure of her heart.
Kitty’s pallbearers will be Jay Atkins, Ron Atteberry, Jeff Bagwell, Larry Haney, Jim Nelson, and Richard Raue.
