Alpha O. Jones was born to Rev. Alonzo and Nola Jones as the last of six girls. The Jones family were long-time residents of Ruston and well respected as “ pillars” within the North-End Community.

Alpha was the first of her siblings who was privileged to excel on to university level for education, and upon her graduation from Grambling State University, she became an educator. As a teacher within Lincoln Parish school system, she eventually retired after many years of service at Dubach High School. Until her passing she also lived in the Dubach community.

Alpha will be tremendously missed by her family, close friends, and her church family at Zion Hill Baptist Church of Ruston, where she was an active member until her health failed.

Preceding her in death are both parents and her five siblings, Maggie, Martha, Lillie Mae, Josephine, and Izora. Family left to carry her memory in their hearts are a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and God-children.

Special appreciation is given to two angels who stood by and assisted her during her medical challenges, are Naomi Ross and Kenny Wayne Ashley … thank you!

Graveside services will be held at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery, Friday, April 21, at 11: 30 a. m. The cemetery is located at 585 Mt. Pleasant Road.
