Barbara ‘Bobbie’ Colvin Johnson

Barbara “Bobbie” Colvin Johnson was born on August 13, 1933, in Ruston and went to her heavenly home on November 3, 2021.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 69 years, Andrew Herbert Johnson; her parents, Raymond Colvin and Angie Colvin Fry; and her siblings, Jeanette Colvin Byrd, John Colvin, and Joe Colvin.

Bobbie graduated from Ruston High School and attended Louisiana Tech University. She married Andrew in 1951 and joined him in his faithful commitment to serving our Lord both as a minister and a Navy chaplain, working alongside him in ministering to multitudes of people.

One of Bobbie’s gifts from God was a giving spirit, and she gave generously in every aspect of her life.

She is survived by her children Tom Johnson and wife Roberta, Susan Brandt and husband Jim, Sonja Cardwell and husband Philip, and Daniel Johnson; her beloved niece Martha Smith and husband Bob; her grandchildren Sarah Hajek, Miah Broussard, Daniel Brandt, Andrew Johnson, Marcus Brandt and Bethany Smith; and 10 great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held at First Baptist Church of Ruston on Sunday, November 7, from 1-2 p.m. and her memorial service will be held at 2 p.m.

A graveside ceremony will follow in Simsboro. Pallbearers are Daniel Brandt, Andy Johnson, Marcus Brandt, Bennett Broussard, and Michael Johnson, and John Caleb Johnson.

The family would like to thank The Arbor and Terrace and their wonderful staff and TruCare Home Health for the care they provided.

As Bobbie and Andy spent their lives helping others and spreading the gospel, the family would like to continue honoring their wishes by suggesting that in lieu of flowers donations be made to First Baptist Church of Ruston or to Advancing Native Missions at P.O. Box 29, Afton, VA 22920.
