Billy Jack Price
Funeral services for Billy Jack Price, 87, will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, July 23, 2019, at Kilpatrick Funeral Home in Ruston, LA. Visitation will be from 10 a.m.. until the time of the service on Tuesday, July 23, 2019. The Rev. Dale Oden will officiate.
Mr. Billy Jack Price, son of the late William Travis (Bunk) and Cassie Dring Price, was born June 26, 1932, in Ruston, Louisiana. He attended school in both Simsboro and Ruston, Louisiana and later attended Louisiana Tech University. Billy Jack served as a deacon at Cook Baptist Church and was a dedicated member of Temple Baptist Church until his death.
He was married to the late Virginia (Jennie) Wilder Price on Sept. 4, 1954. They were blessed with three children. He worked for Mr. Milton Pee and the Ruston Fire Department prior to serving in the United States Army at Yuma Test Station. Here he served as an army clerk for the Army Post Commander. After his service, he returned to Ruston, Louisiana where he began work for J. T. Richardson Construction and retired in 1995 after 35 years as Senior Estimator. Billy Jack was the founder and owner of Pines Memorial Gardens Cemetery until October 2017.
Billy Jack enjoyed typing stories about his family and childhood. He was a great story teller. Billy Jack also enjoyed sports of all kinds, especially baseball. In his time, he was a catcher and he found great joy in remembering those days with fellow team members.
He is survived by his children; Sarah Lindblad and her husband Ross of Colorado, Mark Price and his wife Jean Ann of Ruston, Louisiana, and Skip Price and his wife Amanda of West Monroe, Louisiana; Five granddaughters, Natalie Deville and her husband Bridger of Broomfield Colorado, Allison Wilder and her fiance Todd Payes of Longmont, Colorado, Meggie Rowland and husband John Micheal of Tyler, Texas, Harley Price of Monroe, Louisiana, and Madison Price of Ruston, Louisiana; 4 great grandchildren, Spencer Deville, Sutter Payes, Luke and Eden Lane Rowland; Niece Martha Stinton and husband Tommy, Nephews Rusty Mabry and wife Dana, David Mabry and his wife Joni and a host of other family and friends.
