Graveside service for Calvin Johnston, age 87 of Ruston, LA, will be held at Ansley Cemetery in Ansley, LA., at 3 p.m. Saturday, January 2, 2021.

Visitation was held from 5 – 7 p.m. Friday, January 1, 2021 at Full Gospel Temple Church in Jonesboro, LA.

Bro. David Wilson, Bro. Tony Collins and Bro. Joel Sneed will officiate the service under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home in Ruston.

Calvin was a retired Lineman and served in the United States Airforce. He was born November 1, 1933 in Winnsboro, LA. Calvin was a member of the Full Gospel Temple Church in Jonesboro, LA. He enjoyed church, family, gardening, hunting, and fishing. He loved talking to people about the Bible and spreading the word of the gospel to people, which brought him great joy. He also was known for whistling “Green Man.” He was mayor and High Sheriff of Clay, LA.

He was preceded in death by his wife; Earline Johnston, daughter; Barbara Diane Johnston, granddaughters; Jessica Johnston, and Stephanie Johnston, great-granddaughter; Abagail Brumett, son-in-law; Donnie Ricker.

Those left to cherish his memory are his children; Joseph Johnston (Susan), David Johnston (Angie), Carolyn Ricker, Frank Johnston (MariJohn B.), Melody Lamkin (Todd), and Quince Johnston (Kayla) and twentyfive grandchildren and fiftythree great-grandchidren.

Pallbearers are James Bullard, Kelvin Gonzalez Johnston, Clay Johnston, Zeb Johnston, Calvin Johnston, Jr. and Todd Lamkin, Jr.

Honorary Pallbearers are Philip Brown, Kent Hightower and Josh Johnston.
