Cecil Benjamin Minor, Jr.

Cecil Benjamin Minor, Jr., joined our Lord and Savior in heaven on February 1, 2023. He passed over this side of eternity in Conroe, Texas, surrounded by those he loved.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, February 25 at New Prospect Baptist Church in Dubach. Visitation will begin at 10 a. m., followed by the service at 11 a.m. Lunch will be provided for those who would like to join.

Cecil was born on September 15, 1954. He is preceded in death by his mother, June Elaine Salmon Minor; his sister, Linda Ann Minor; granddaughter, Skylar Marie Lankford Pokorny; and adoptive father, Emmett Crawford.

He is survived by his adoptive mother, Jerolyn Crawford; daughter, Candice Shamane Hofstra and her husband Lucas Scott Hofstra; grandsons, Tristan David Hofstra and Logan Benjamin Hofstra; along with the Crawford family, Shamane Helm Lankford and numerous other lifelong friends and church family who supported him throughout his life.

Cecil was a member of New Prospect Baptist Church, where he made a profession of faith to his Lord and Savior in 1969, at the age of 15. He was proud to be called a 32nd degree Mason. Cecil was a Master Mason of Good Standing, holding membership at the C. A. Fortner Lodge No. 1314 A.F. and A.M. for over 25 years.

He was also a member of the American Society of Welders. Cecil was a true MacGyver. He could find a solution for any problem in the most original way, if need be. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying much of his time hunting, fishing, and boating. When he wasn’t busy outdoors, he could be found spending time with and helping those he loved and held dear.

His word was as good as gold and the love and gift of friendship he offered is a true testament to his life for all who knew him on this side of eternity.

Mr. Minor graduated from Wossman High School in 1972. After attending college, he moved to Houston, Texas where he was hired by Brown and Root. It was here that he made a name for himself as a leader and a “welder extraordinaire.”

While at Brown and Root, he was contracted to work for Shell Manufacturing Complex, which led to his worldwide travels where he was an integral part of various infrastructure projects.

This is where he met Wayne Langham, who would become a lifelong friend and mentor. Cecil then went on to work for TriTool, where he was a Regional Sales Representative. He retired at the age of 40 and moved back to his home of Dubach, to enjoy the serenity and calm of country living.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Louisiana Baptist Children’s Home in honor of Cecil.
