Donna Tatum Peters
Graveside services for Ms. Donna Tatum Peters, age 74, of Dubach, LA, were held on September 10, 2020, at the Hamilton Cemetery in Dubach, and directed by Kilpatrick’s Funeral Home in Ruston.
Officiating the service was Bro. Barry Joyner.
Donna was born on March 9, 1946, and she passed away on Sept. 7, 2020, at Ruston Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Donna was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Peters, and her parents, Art and Ernestine Tatum.
Left to cherish her memory are two sons, Jay Brooks and wife Andrea of Fayetteville, AR, and Scott Brooks and wife Christine of Shreveport, LA; and one sister Terri Johnson and husband Bernie.
She is also survived by five grandchildren, Jay Anthony Brooks, Evan Brooks, Matthew Brooks and wife Ainsley, Caroline Brooks, and Emma Brooks, one great-grandchild, Memphis Grace Brooks; and two nieces, Elizabeth Clark and husband Wes, and Tatum Mitchell and husband Matt.
Donna had a passion for life. When she had an interest in something, she pursued it to the fullest. She was an avid reader and particularly enjoyed biographies and true crime stories. She also enjoyed cooking and was a self-appointed master chef. She took delight in making up her own recipes and was eager to share those recipes with others.
Donna loved family. Her sons and grandchildren entertained her with their interests and involvements. During family get-togethers, Donna was the life of any event. She could tell talltales that she swore were true, and no one could match her dry sense of humor or her sarcasm.
Donna was a very loyal person. If you were her friend, you were her friend for life. She was the friend that a person would seek when he/ she wanted an honest answer.
Donna will also be remembered as a very generous person. She enjoyed spending on her sons, their wives, her grandchildren, and her nieces. She always had a knack for selecting unusual and unique gifts.
Planned memorials may be made to Four Paws (290 Rodeo Road, Ruston, LA, 71270) as a way to honor and remember Donna’s love for animals. The family thanks the entire staff of Ruston Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for their thoughtfulness and care during Donna’s time there.
