Ernest L. Young
Ernest L. Young, age 84, of Ruston, LA died Saturday October 14, 2023 after a brief illness.
Mr. Young was a Captain and pilot in the U.S. Air Force, a local small business owner for 40 years and an active Trinity United Methodist Church member.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years Andrea of Ruston; four children: Ernest Lee “Ernie” Young, IV of Ruston, Virginia “Gay” Young of New Orleans, LA, Roxanne (James) Hardel of Choudrant, LA and Grace (Jeannene Flowers) Young of Brandon, MS; sonin- law Brian Cupps of St. Louis, MO; three grandchildren: Jacob Cupps of St. Louis, Justin ( Jane) Cupps of Columbia, MO and Connor Lee of Choudrant; five nephews; two great-nieces; sister Beth ( Bill) Vosburg; and many other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents E. Lee and Armede Young and his daughter Lori Young Cupps.
Funeral services will be held Friday, October 20, 2023 at Trinity Methodist Church. Visitation will be held in the sanctuary at Trinity from 12:00-1:00 PM with a memorial service to follow at 1:00 PM. Services are under the direction of Owens Funeral Home of Ruston with the Reverend Doug De Graffenried officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Mr. Young’s honor to the Methodist Children’s Home of Ruston, to United Methodist Commission on Relief or to Trinity Methodist Church.
