Gloria Pesnell
Funeral services celebrating the life of Gloria Faye Fletcher Pesnell, will be held at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 1815 Marshall Street, in Shreveport, on Saturday, April 17, 2021, at 11 a.m., with Pastor Jeff Raines officiating.
Burial will follow at 3 p.m. at the Longstraw Cemetery in Choudrant. The family will receive friends at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, on Friday April 16, 2021, from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Gloria was born February 28, 1937, in West Monroe, and passed away on Tuesday, April 13, 2021, at the age of 84 in Shreveport. Gloria was preceded in death by her parents, James and Bessie Fletcher; sister, Thelma O’Neal and brothers, William Morris Fletcher and James R. Fletcher. She is survived by her sister, Jerry Andrews and husband Edward of Fairbanks, Alaska; sister-in-law, Janis Fletcher and husband Billy R. Pesnell; five children — son, J. Whitney Pesnell and wife Tedy, of Shreveport, W. Alan Pesnell and wife Evelyn, of Marksville, James G. Pesnell of Phoenix, Dr. Douglas W. Pesnell and wife Angela, of Natchitoches; daughter, Susan E. Pesnell of Shreveport; grandchildren, William M. Pesnell, Sierra Pesnell, Sheridan Pesnell and Katelyn Elizabeth Pesnell; and stepgrandchildren, Shealynn Schmidt, Nellie Perez, Carl Perez, Gregory Perez, John Perez, Jessie Perez, Kristina Rushing, Gabriel Gaines and Stephanie Gaines.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to all of those who contributed so much to the quality of Gloria’s life and encouraged her with their prayers, visits, flowers, cards and calls and to the doctors, nurses and health providers who treated and cared for her.
Honoring Gloria as pallbearers will be Andy Fletcher, Jeremy Hamlin, Gilland Burch, Layton Sanders, Tyler Murad, William M. Pesnell and Gabriel Gaines.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church in Shreveport, 543 Ockley Dr., Shreveport, LA 71106, Longstraw Baptist Church, 1799 Styles Ranch Rd., Choudrant, LA, 71227 the Louisiana Baptist Children’s Home, 7200 Desiard St., Monroe, LA 71203, or the charity of the donor’s choice.
