H. Russell Davis
H. Russell Davis of Ruston died in his home on February 6, 2023.
Russell was born on August 22, 1948, in Ruston, to father Hubert Harold Davis and mother Ina Grace Russell Davis.
He graduated from Arcadia High School in 1966. He graduated from Louisiana Tech, where he was a member of Sigma Nu fraternity, in 1970, and from LSU Law School in 1973.
While at LSU, Russell met Kathryn Riedel, and they were married on May 29, 1972. Following law school graduation, they moved to Arcadia, where they lived and raised their three children. Russell joined the law firm of Goff and Caskey in 1973, which eventually became Goff, Caskey, Davis, and Fallin. He also served as Assistant District Attorney for Bienville, Jackson and Claiborne parishes for 15 years.
Russell was preceded in death by his parents and wife.
He is survived by his daughter, Rebecca Cruse and husband Jason of Houston, Texas; his daughter, Maryanne Smith and husband Brian of Ruston; and his son, Dr. Richard Davis and wife Dr. Kimberly Davis of Baton Rouge. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Wesley and Jackson Stallings, George and Josephine Smith, and baby Davis, child of Richard and Kimberly, due in May.
Russell was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. He was a loyal lifelong fan of the LSU Tigers and loved attending football games in Death Valley. He also loved traveling, reading, music, and spending time with his friends, including Peni Armstrong.
A funeral is scheduled for Saturday, February 11, at 10 a.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church’s main sanctuary. A visitation is scheduled for Friday, February 10, from 5-7 p.m. at Kilpatrick Funeral home in Ruston.
Officiating will be Rev. Doug DeGraffenreid. Interment will be at Kilpatrick Memorial Gardens, Ruston. Glenn Fallin, Robert Sharp, Brian Smith, Jason Cruse, Richard Davis, and Moe Letlow will serve as pallbearers.
Wesley Stallings, Jackson Stallings, George Brian Smith, III, Joe Reeves, and Sam Reeves will serve as honorary pallbearers.
