James Scott Kennedy
James Scott Kennedy, 60, was born May 4, 1960, in Natchez, MS.
He passed away on Sept. 8, 2020.
Visitation will be held from 5 – 7 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 13, 2020, at Hill Crest Memorial Funeral Home in Haughton, LA.
A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, Sept. 14, 2020, at Hebron Cemetery located at 3154 Hebron Rd., Bernice, LA, 71222. Hebron Road is located off La. Alt Hwy 2 between Summerfield and Bernice. All are invited to attend the graveside service.
Scott was raised in Ruston, LA, where he graduated from high school and went on to graduate from Louisiana Tech University with a master’s degree in Business Administration.
He worked for Bellsouth/AT&T for 30 years and retired in 2017. He had a great reputation and was well respected by his co-workers. He had a successful career with the phone company, which is the same company his dad retired from.
Hunting was one of Scott’s favorite hobbies and he loved being in the woods at his farm in Summerfield. He enjoyed his time at the farm working on various projects, bush hogging and being outdoors. He was a jack of all trades and there was nothing that he could not do.
Scott will be remembered most for his giving spirit. He spent countless hours doing anything, and everything needed for his family, friends and even complete strangers. His love for life will live on through those who were lucky enough to experience it. To know him was to love him, and Scott will be missed by so many friends and loved ones.
Scott is survived by his wife of 31 years, Tammy; his mother, Jean Kennedy; his sister, Marilyn Kennedy; nephew, Dr. CJ Bordelon III (Lauren); niece, Melissa Shields (Stephen). He was preceded in death by his father, James F. Kennedy. Honorary pallbearers are Hank Adams, Jim Faler, Clint Hollis, Ralph Hollis, Mike Humke, Carey King, Jeff Liles, Mike Ogaard and Toby Shaw.
