John Chris Stephenson

John Chris Stephenson was born on March 8, 1951, in Ruston, and died on February 13, 2023. He is proceeded in death by his parents Silas Adam and Matilda Jane Stephenson, and brother Sonny Stephenson. He is survived by is sister Libby Follet.

He graduated from Ruston High School in 1969. John Chris spent the first twenty years of his career as the owner of Stephenson Lumbar. In the following thirty years he served Ruston and its surrounding communities as a realtor.

John Chris was deeply committed to his family and worked side by side with his wife in real estate. If you ever had the pleasure of crossing his path, you were guaranteed two things: a great story (or three) and pictures of his grandchildren. He was an avid reader and shared his love of books with his children and grandchildren.

John Chris was a loving and devoted husband to his high school sweetheart and wife of fifty years, Martha Sue. He was a proud father to Chris Stephenson and wife Jessica, Kiley Stephenson and his wife Julie, and Katie Steed and her husband Matt. His grandchildren who affectionately called him “ Boss,” were his pride and joy; Christopher Stephenson, Tatum Stephenson, Caleb Babineaux, Cooper Stephenson, Levi Stephenson, Fiona Steed, and Lucy Steed.

Memorial services for John Chris Stephenson, 71, of Ruston, will be held at The Bridge Community Church in Ruston on Monday, February 27, 2023 at 10 a.m. Pastor Charles Penuell will officiate. In memory of John Chris, consider writing your favorite story about him to leave with his family at the service.
