John Earl Jimmerson
John Earl Jimmerson, 91, passed away on May 30, 2021, at his home near Dubach, after a brief illness.
He was born on May 27, 1930, in Bienville Parish to William David and Beadie Vail Jimmerson.
He graduated from Quitman High School in 1947 and attended Louisiana Polytechnic Institute before joining the U.S. Army.
Mr. Jimmerson was a veteran of the Korean War, where he served in the 2nd Infantry Division as a sergeant with an artillery battalion.
Soon after his marriage, Mr. Jimmerson moved to Dubach, where worked for United Gas Pipeline Company until he retired after 30 years. Mr. Jimmerson enjoyed fishing and gardening, and he was well known for his incredible tomato harvest every summer.
His parents; his brother, William A. Jimmerson; and his sisters, Irene Alexander and Kathryn Moore, precede Mr. Jimmerson in death.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 67 years, Francelia Barnard Jimmerson; his daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Richard Jenkins of Dubach; and his son and daughter-in-law, John D. and Michelle Jimmerson of Ruston. He is survived by four grandchildren and their spouses, Jeremy Jenkins and Jessica Hayes of Marion, Zachary and Leslie Jenkins of Ft. Rucker, Alabama, Megan and Larry Bridge of Beaufort, S.C., and Lilla Jimmerson of Bossier City. Eight great-children, four sisters-in-law, and several nieces and nephews also survive him.
The family would like to thank the nurses at St. Francis Medical Center and Compassus Hospice for their care during Mr. Jimmerson’s illness.
