Joyce Borland Wright

Joyce Borland Wright passed away March 20, 2021, at the age of 94, and will be buried in a private graveside service in Ruston. Born May 3, 1926, in Smackover, Arkansas, to Foster Vincent Borland and Minnie Vaughn Borland, Joyce grew up in Arkansas, Texas, and Louisiana.

After graduating from Ruston High School, she attended Louisiana Tech University, where sher eceived two undergraduate degrees as well as a Master of Arts in Elementary Education.

While at Louisiana Tech, she met George Wright, a native of South Dakota, who was receiving U.S. Navy officer training in the V-12 Program. They were married July 12, 1945, and made their home in Ruston.

During her long lifetime, Joyce pursued a variety of careers. After a job transfer moved them to Monroe, she spent the next 12 years raising their four children and teaching preschool and kindergarten at St. Christopher’s Day School, Covenant Presbyterian, and Geor gia Tucker Elementary.

After returning to Ruston in 1973, she established, owned, and operated Second Secretary, The Clothes Pen, and ABC Realty. She maintained a passionate interest in real estate the rest of her life.

Joyce always enjoyed gathering with family and friends at Lake D’Arbonne, as well as spending quality time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by George Wright, her loving husband of 71 years; her parents; and brother, Wayne Borland.

She is survived and will be greatly missed by her sister, Emma Lou Beard; daughters, Linda Wright Robinson (Bob by), Lori Wright Davis (Todd), Jeanne Wright Pousson (David); and son, Randy Wright (Maria); grandchildren, Erin Robinson Breard (Ricker), Caitlin Robinson Zepeda (Kalum), Leigh Ann Robinson Sharbono (Daniel), Bradley Davis (Traci), Taylor Davis (Lizanne), Kyle Pousson (Polly), Michael Pousson (Melissa), Michelle Pousson Roy (David), Daniel Wright, Elena Wright Spencer (Steven); greatgrandchildren, Patrick, Jacob, Robert, and Matthew Roy, Caroline, Nathanael, Thomas, Bess, and William Pousson, Jack and Henry Pousson, and Ricker and Camille Breard.
