Michael Duncan Burns

A Gathering of Friends for Mr. Michael Duncan Burns will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 25, 2024, at Pollock Methodist Church, in Pollock, with Reverend DeeAnn Johnson officiating, under the direction of Rush Funeral Home of Pineville.
Mr. Burns, 82, of Pollock, entered eternal rest on Tuesday, May 21, 2024, in his residence with his loving family by his side.
Michael was a member of the Pollock United Methodist Church, and a proud U.S. Navy Veteran. After completing his agriculture degree at LSU, he moved to Florida where he managed a Brahman Ranch in Bartow, Florida.
He returned to Louisiana to work with the Cooperative Extension System as a 4-H Agent in Ruston. Thereafter, he went to Hope, Arkansas, to continue working with the 4-H youth, later returning to Pollock to continue his work. He was instrumental in the formation of the Louisiana 4-H Shooting Sports Program.
He also worked for the Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by one son, Morgan Wade Burns; and his parents, Eddie Lee and Mary Ellen Burns.
Those left to mourn his loss and cherish his memory include his loving wife of 58 years, Lou Nell Burns of Pollock; one daughter, Lee Porterfield of Essex, Iowa; three grandchildren, Emily Porterfield of Orlando, Florida, Wayne Porterfield of Orlando, Florida, and Nathan Porterfield of Essex, Iowa.
A time of visitation will be held at Pollock Methodist Church, in Pollock, on Saturday, May 25, 2024, from noon until time of service.
