Oleta Savage Haile

Oleta Savage Haile was born March 26, 1930, in Weston, and passed away Monday, June 21, 2021 in Ruston.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Ella Savage; her husband, S. W. “Red” Haile; her son, Warren Blake Haile; and her siblings, Johnnie Ruth Reeves and John Wayland Savage.

She is survived by her daughter, Rhonda Adams Jones and her husband, Bill; son, Rusty Haile and his wife Lisa; granddaughters, Nancy Adams Albin, her husband Sean, and their children Emory, Parker, and Ansley; and Maggie Adams Klein, her husband Matt, and their children Reed, Connor, and Quinn.

Oleta was a graduate of Weston High School and Louisiana Tech University.

She was a career educator and was known by the many students whose lives she positively impacted as “Teacher Haile.”

She was a sports enthusiast, both as a spectator and a participant. Basketball was her game in high school followed by semi-pro softball as a young woman and bowling and golf into her 70s. Oleta and Red were a great team, rearing and supporting their family, being successful in their careers, and enjoying life.

They really were equal partners in their marriage, but on the dance floor, she loved to follow his lead. They were amazing to watch, and it brings us great joy to know they are reunited in Heaven.

The family would like to thank and commend the staff of Russ Place Assisted Living and Alpine Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.

Visitation will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday morning, June 26, 2021, at First Baptist Church in Jonesboro, followed by the service at 11 a.m. Burial will be in the Jonesboro Cemetery under the direction of Southern-Edmonds Funeral Home.
