Patti Nicholas Killgore
A graveside memorial service for Patti Nicholas Killgore will be held at 1 p.m. on January 15, 2022, at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Ruston, under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Ruston, with Brother Bob Deich officiating.
Patti was born on February 5,1936, to Faye and J.B. Nicholas in Lisbon, and passed away on January 13, 2022, in Ruston. Patti grew up in rural Claiborne Parish and attended schools in Lisbon.
On June 1,1954, she married her high school sweetheart, Charles A. Killgore, and they shared over 65 years together. Charles referred to Ms. Patti as his friend, his confidant, and the love of his life. Patti graduated from Lisbon High School, the Elliott Business College, and received a Certificate for Church Business Administrator from Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia.
Patti enjoyed an 18- year term as secretary, Administrative Secretary, and ultimately Church Business Administrator at Trinity Methodist Church of Ruston. In 1983, she was elected as President of the ARK-LA-TEX Chapter of Church Business Administrators. Throughout her life, Patti was a dedicated and supportive mother to her three boys.
She served as Cub Scout Den Mother, head cheerleader, and sometimes as vocal referee during the various sporting events the boys participated in. She was always there for the boys and shouldered the majority of the family responsibilities while Charles was away studying for his Doctorate Degree and when he had a significant heart attack in 1975.
Patti and her husband Charles were beloved and active members of Grace United Methodist Church in Ruston for over 50 years. Through the years, they enjoyed and cherished the relationships and support provided by all their friends at Grace.
Patti is survived by her two sons, Mike Killgore and wife Norma Fisher Killgore of Baton Rouge, and Chris Killgore and wife Meda King Killgore of Ruston; four grandchildren, Meredith Killgore Chustz and husband Jason: Neill Killgore and wife Melissa; Case Killgore and wife Kenzie; and Cody Killgore; along with six greatgrandchildren, Alex, Lincoln, Louise, Rowan, Maggie, and Elizabeth.
Mrs. Killgore was preceded in death by her father, J.B. Nicholas, mother, Fay Nicholas, husband, Charles A. Killgore, and son, Neill Killgore. Pallbearers will be grandsons, Neill Killgore, Cody Killgore, and Case Killgore.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Catherine Holyfield, Beverly Gray and Jackie Goldsmith who provided loving care and companionship to Ms. Patti over the last few years.
The continuing COVID conditions make any type of group gatherings difficult and complicated. The family will host a graveside memorial service outdoors and all of Patti’s friends and family are invited to attend.
In lieu of flowers, contributions would be welcomed to Grace United Methodist Church, 3401 N. Trenton St., Ruston, LA 7120; and Cedar Creek School, 2400 Cedar Creek Dr., Ruston, LA 71270.
