Ralph P. Collins

Funeral services for Ralph P. Collins, age 95, of Choudrant, LA,will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2019, at Owens Memorial Chapel in Ruston with Bro. Martin Ferguson and Bro. Jeff Luellen officiating. Burial will follow in Providence Cemetery in Ringgold, LA, under the direction of Owens Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Ruston, LA.

Mr.Ralph Collins was born March 6, 1924, in Ringgold, LA, to Archie R. and Mattie Holt Collins. He graduated from Ringgold High school in 1941 and then attended Tyler Commercial in Tyler, TX. Ralph was drafted into the U.S. Navy. He retired from Arkansas Louisiana Gas Company. Ralph loved fishing and gardening and traveling in the United States and Canada. He is preceded in death by two sons; Randall Carl Collins and Kevin Reed Collins; his parents, three brothers and 2 sisters, and grandson in-law, Brian Burway.

Mr. Collins is survived by his wife of 71 years, Dorothy McCormack Collins; one son, Russell Wayne Collins (Bettye); four grandchildren: Danna Collins Burway, Ryan Collins (Jo Ellen), Brandon Collins (Cassandra) and Rance Collins (Jana); step-grandson, Dane Doucet (Brandi); greatgrandchildren: Tyler Burway, Lauren Collins, Kristian Collins, Cameron Collins, Ethan Collins, Sydney Boyd and Elliott Collins; step great-grandchildren: Taylor Crow, Tyler Crow, Gage Doucet and Mabry Doucet; greatgreat-grandchildren; Zoe Crain and McKenna Sheldon.

Pallbearers will be grandsons and greatgrandsons: Ryan, Brandon, Rance, Kristian, Cameron and Ethan with honorary pallbearers Tyler Burway and Elliot Collins.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude or the donor’s choice. Special thanks to Premier Hospice, especially Kim Roberson.
