Reverend Henry Ervin Island

Reverend Henry Ervin Island away peacefully on March 12, 2023, at the age of 90. He touched the lives of many and carried the Light of the Lord wherever he went.

Born on November 5, 1932, in Arcadia, Louisiana, to Jesse and Susie Island, Henry was the youngest of five children.

Reverend Island was an ordained minister for 60 years and an educator at Lincoln High School and Ruston High School for 32 years.

Henry married the love of his life, Clotie Gipson Island in 1953. They resided in Grambling, LA and enjoyed 70 years of marriage raising their daughter Glenda Joyce Island.

He is survived by his wife, Clotie Mae Island; his daughter, Glenda J. Island; his granddaughter, Jerrilyn Dailey ( Nicholas); and two great- grandchildren, Brooklyn Reign and Lennox Amir Dailey.
