Richard Cassidy Ambrose was born in Ruston, on August 30, 1987, to Ricky and Susie Ambrose and left this earth March 23, 2021, to be with the Lord.

Cass, who was affectionately known by friends and family as “Bull,” was a loving husband, caring son and brother, and a true friend.

Cass was a graduate of Ruston High School and Louisiana Tech University and loved sitting at the top of the visitor side bleachers to root the Bulldogs on to victory.

He served in the Louisiana National Guard with the 844th Horizontal Engineer Battalion and was a part of missions in both Kuwait and Haiti. He was awarded a command coin for superior performance during the New Horizons Haiti 2010 humanitarian effort.

Most recently, he and Erin had made their home in Las Cruces, N.M. and were surrounded with love from family and friends.

As an avid lover of the outdoors, Cass always wanted to be outside. Not long after birth, Cass’ love with mother nature began whether he liked it or not. His grandparents Dick and Nita Fern would take him down to the fishing camp where through the years he cut his teeth on crappie fishing with his father Ricky and his grandfather Dick. The love grew as others like his Uncle Scott and his brother Wes tried to get him on a deer or kill a limit of ducks.

He fell in love with the mountains out west and loved hunting for mule deer with his father-in-law Ron, whom he killed his first mule deer with. A new passion arose as he pursued the game of golf, always enjoying a round with friends on the course.

Cass was preceded in death by his grandparents, Dick and Nita Fern Ambrose, and Bob and Wanda Moseley.

He leaves behind his wife Erin; parents, Ricky and Susie Ambrose; father- and mother-in-law, Ron and Laurie Mitchell; brother, Wes Ambrose and his children Ben and Madeline; uncles and aunts, Scott and Rita Thompson, Johnny and Delaine Moseley, Mike and Lana Ruth Ambrose; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws.

A memorial service will be held at Trinity United Methodist Church’s Burkhalter Chapel on Thursday April 8, at 3 p.m.

Cass will be laid to rest in Las Cruces, N.M. and a memorial service will be held at Red Hawk Golf Course, 7502 Red Hawk Golf Road, in Las Cruces on Monday, April 12 at 3 p.m.?Pallbearers will be Wes Ambrose, Nate Nunley, Bradley Franklin, Hunter Carswell, Daniel Peters, Jordan Kincannon, and Camp McCormack.?Flowers, donations, and condolences may be offered at La Paz-Graham’s Funeral Home, 555 West Amador, Las Cruces, NM 88005.
