The fourth quarter is important, but The Fifth Quarter has all the action
The Leader's 5th Quarter special edition will debut first thing Sunday morning.
The week all football fans have been waiting for is here.
Football season has finally arrived. After whetting our appetites with the 2022 Bayou Jamb held at Louisiana Tech’s Joe Aillet Stadium, the main course is about to be served.
Thursday night, the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs open the local college season on the road against Missouri of the SEC. Also Thursday, our own Cedar Creek Cougars will travel down I-20 to Minden to take on Glenbrook Academy to open the prep regular season.
The rest of the local high school teams play Friday, Grambling plays Saturday and the LSU Tigers play Sunday night.
Do you know what else begins on Sunday?
We are excited about giving you our Sunday digital football spectacular, “The Fifth Quarter,” for the second straight season.
We debuted our Sunday morning football must-read publication in 2021, and as the season progressed, the response was overwhelming.
We appreciate all of our local readers for making The Fifth Quarter a part of your Sunday along with bacon, eggs, coffee and a trip to church.
We’re going to give you as much content as we can compile for this year’s publication, with Leader staffers Brian Trahan and Matt Belinson ready to go with laptops warmed up. Jalon Grant will be teaming up with us as a contributing writer along with a host of photographers such as Darrell James, Tony Valentino, Josh McDaniel and Bret McCormick pitching in to tell stories through their camera lens.
We may even have a few surprises up our sleeves as the weather turns cooler on the gridiron.
If you haven’t perused a digital copy of The Fifth Quarter yet, we urge you to activate your e-edition subscription this week before our football special is teed up and kicked off first thing Sunday.
Whether it’s the Ruston Bearcats, Cedar Creek Cougars, Lincon Prep Panthers, Jonesboro- Hodge Tigers, Louisiana Tech Bulldogs, Grambling State Tigers or the New Orleans Saints, we’re going to have all the action covered for you.
We’ll also provide features for the stories behind the games, in addition to opinion columns with a pigskin flavor.
Once you’ve sat through the fourth quarter, don’t forget it’s time for The Fifth Quarter.
