After continuing to hold the standard high for the Ruston boys’ basketball team in 2023-24, five Bearcats earned All-District 2-5A honors.

Ruston junior Aidan Anding and freshman forward Ahmad Hudson made first team, with Anding leading the Bearcats in scoring at 14.8 points per game as a 37% threepoint shooter to go with 2.5 steals and 2.7 assists per game.

Hudson showed little signs of needing to catch up to playing 5A basketball in his first varsity season, averaging 14 points per game, 11.7 rebounds, 2.9 blocks and a team-best 53.8% field goal percentage. Hudson was the only freshman named to the all-district team.

“I’m proud of them and how hard they worked. They earned it,” Ruston head coach Ryan Bond said. “There was no doubt they were two of the better players in our district, and other coaches have to game plan every night for those two guys, and they still had successful district campaigns ans that’s a testament to how good they are.”

Joran Parker, a junior, made second team after averaging 10 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 2.7 assists this season for the Bearcats.

“He can be as good as he wants to be,” Bond said. “He’s very smart and knows the game. We have high expectations for him next season. He’s going to need to be a bigger scorer for us with us graduating Zhy and Lonnie.”

Seniors Zhy Scott (8.5 points, 5.4 rebounds) and Trey Dimmer (10 points, 4.1 rebounds) both honorable mention all-district from coaches.

“They’ve been huge factors on the floor for us over the last four seasons,” Bond said. “Extremely happy for them. And of course we had Jamadrion Lillard and Kaleb Dobbins as other upperclassmen and we wish them all the best of luck moving forward and what they did for our program.”

Every Bearcat who made the all- district team increased his scoring average from the 2022- 23 season. Alexandria head coach Lance Brasher was named District 2- 5A Coach of the Year. ASH senior Jaylin Johnson was named 2-5A MVP.
