Burroughs breaks down rain postponement

So much for that.
With Louisiana Tech up 8-2 heading to the top of the 9th over MTSU, three outs away from advancing into the winner's bracket of the Conference USA Baseball Tournament, lightning delayed the game before the contest was officially moved to finish at 9 a.m. on Thursday.
The change in schedule now means, win or lose, Tech will return to action Friday after the conclusion of the three outs with MTSU.
Tech head coach Lane Burroughs kept a light-hearted mindset, despite the odd change in schedule and unfortunate delay.
"It really doesn't because we were going to bring Bates in anyway," Burroughs said. "We had actually thought about going back with Broderson. But with the delay, we were going to go Bates anyway. It isn't going to change anything. If it is going to change anything, Bates is now a starter. Try to get three outs. It's weird. Honestly, I don't think I've ever had to deal with this. DBU and Jacksonville State had a game earlier this year where they needed one out and they had to come back the next day and get one out and start the next game."
LA Tech was cruising, allowing one MTSU hit after the third inning, while Ethan Bates had just collected his third RBI of the night on a two-run single.
Now, three outs remain.
"The good thing is, both teams win or lose you get pretty much a day off tomorrow. You come up, get ready and get your work in and finish the game. And then we won't play again until Friday. I hate it for our fans because we're not playing until Friday again. And I know nine o' clock, there probably won't be a lot of people here able to get off work. We talk about adapting and adjusting. This is conference tournament college baseball at its finest. There's going to be delays, rain. It's part of the gig."
LA Tech and MTSU will resume at 9 a.m. on Thursday.
If Tech defeats MTSU, the Bulldogs will return Friday at 12:30 p.m.
