Josten Crow has joined Eric Konkol’s staff as an assistant men’s basketball coach at Louisiana Tech.

Louisiana Tech men’s basketball head coach Eric Konkol announced on Wednesday the addition of Josten Crow as an assistant coach on the Bulldog staff.

Crow comes north to Ruston having been in Lafayette since 2015 with the Ragin’ Cajuns, first as the Director of Student-Athlete Development for one year then as an assistant coach for the last five seasons.

“Josten is a talented coach, skilled recruiter and tremendous mentor of young men,” said Konkol. “His strong work ethic and commitment to the development of our players will be a benefit to our program. Josten has terrific experience as a Division I coach in our region, in addition to his time as an accomplished player at the college and pro level. We are thrilled to welcome him and his fiancé, Amanda McHaney, to the Louisiana Tech Family.”

Crow was part of five winning seasons at UL-Lafayette under head coach Bob Marlin. He played a key role in the development of seven All-Sun Belt Conference players, including this past season’s honorees Cedric Russell and Theo Akwuba.

In his second season as an assistant coach in 2016-17, Crow helped the Cajuns to a 27-7 overall record, including a Sun Belt Conference regular season title and a National Invitation Tournament appearance.

“I am humbled and blessed for the opportunity to join coach Konkol and the Bulldog family,” said Crow. “Louisiana Tech has an awesome history with a winning culture and I am eager to work alongside a great staff to focus on the continued development of our student-athletes on and off the court. I am also so grateful to coach Bob Marlin and the great people in Acadiana.”

Crow also served as a graduate assistant at ULL in 2011-12 before playing professionally overseas for three years. He played in the top two levels of professional basketball in Germany for the Crailsheim Merlins, spending two years in the ProA (second-level) league before competing in 2014-15 in the BBL (highest level).? During that time, he spent the summers as Head of Athletics for the Greatness Factory - an individual and team training center based in the Dallas/Fort Worth area.

Crow was a four-year letterwinner at Sam Houston State (2007-11), playing for Bob Marlin. He helped lead the Bearkats to both the Southland Conference regular season and tournament titles as a junior in 2010, along with an appearance in the NCAA Tournament. ?As a senior, Crow ranked second on the team in both scoring (12.7) and rebounds (5.3) while dishing out 3.5 assists.
