By the end of this week, Aidan Anding will have made one of the most important decisions of his life.

Anding, entering his senior year at Ruston High as a standout cornerback, is set to announce his college commitment this weekend between Texas, Miami, and Arkansas after weeks of official visits.

The most recent and final official visit came this past weekend in Austin, Texas, where Anding spent time with current players, along with Terry Joseph, Texas’ defensive pass game coordinator, and head coach Steve Sarkisian.

“It went really well,” Anding said of the Texas visit. “I really enjoyed myself a lot. It was a great time. It really was just cool seeing the program itself and the staff and the teammates and getting to talk with them was awesome. A lot of the corners playing there are from Louisiana, so we connected well. I could see the support the fans give to the program.”

Anding said Texas’ final pitch to him was to the point.

“They told me they really wanted me badly, and they could see me coming in and dominating and playing early,” Anding said.

Viewed as a top 50 player at his position nationally by 247Sports, Anding will have his choice of some of the top college programs in the country to continue his athletic and academic career after bursting onto the scene for the Bearcats last fall.

In his first varsity football season, Anding put up 34 tackles, 2 sacks, 4 interceptions, 10 pass breakups, and a blocked field goal as a junior – earning First Team All-State honors by the Louisiana Sports Writers Association.

Since then, he’s been busy with 18 Division I offers following the 2023 season, including nine from Power 4 schools. After narrowing down his options, Anding spent the past month on official visits, including the first weekend in June at Miami, and then at Arkansas from June 14-16.

Now, it’s time for the hard part of choosing his future home. Anding felt each school presented strong opportunities and family environments.

“Every school I went to I felt comfortable, and I could see myself getting developed at all of them really,” Anding said. “The academics are all good too. For me, I’m going to put it in God’s hands and let him help me decide.”
