The Bulldogs continue to add to the pack.
Tyler Henry, a transfer from the University of Southern Indiana, announced his intent to transfer to Louisiana Tech late Friday on social media, giving the Bulldogs another scoring threat in their program after a mass transfer exodus in January.
Henry averaged 7.8 points and 2.5 rebounds this past season, with the 6-foot-4 guard finishing third on the team in free-throw shooting at 77.9% as well.
“My decision came from my relationship that I formed with the coaching staff and the opportunity to compete for a conference and national championship,” Henry told the Leader on his decision to commit.
Tech will take the experience of Henry’s 72 career games at Southern Indiana, especially after losing nine players to the transfer portal shortly after the season ended in the Conference USA tournament.
Henry surpassed the 1,000-point club in his collegiate career after a 12-point performance against Eastern Illinois this past season and will look to help the Bulldogs fill the void of leading scorers Cobe Williams and Keaston Willis after they left for the University of Tulsa to rejoin former Tech coach Eric Konkol.
The addition of Henry goes with a growing list of transfer moves from Talvin Hester and the Bulldog staff, joining Baylor transfer Jordan Turner, Tahlik Chavez (Charleston Southern), Daniel Batcho ( Texas Tech), Devin Ree ( Louisville), Terry Miller Jr. (College of the Sequoias), and Sean Newman Jr. ( Fullerton College).
Tech finished 15-18 overall this past season and 7-13 in Conference USA competition.
