Four Cougars named honorable mention All-State

Cedar Creek’s Lawson Lillo, Ladd Thompson, Gray Worthey, and Blake Robinson were named honorable mention on the Louisiana Sports Writers Association Class 1A All-State team.

Lillo, a senior linebacker for the Cougars, is now a two-time All-State honorable mention after leading the Creek defense with 120 tackles and 26 tackles for loss this season. Lillo added 3 sacks, 1 fumble recovery and 1 interception as well to his defensive resume. On offense, Lillo totaled 8 touchdowns with 453 yards from scrimmage.

Thompson was the do-it-all player for Creek this season, starting at quarterback while also leading the team in rushing attempts. As a passer, Thompson finished with 421 yards, 5 touchdowns, and 5 interceptions. On the ground, he bruised his way for 396 yards and 5 touchdowns on 118 attempts. He also had 43 tackles and 2 interceptions as a defensive back.

Worthey finished with 99 carries for 531 yards and 6 touchdowns, while adding 87 tackles on defense.

Defensive lineman Blake Robinson put up 54 tackles, 21 TFL, and 5 sacks.

Southern Lab defensive back Dylan Day won Defensive MVP with 58 tackles, 30 pass breakups, and 10 interceptions – five of which he returned for touchdowns. Ascension Catholic running back Chad Elzy Jr. won Offensive MVP with 2,911 yards and 49 total touchdowns.

Riverside’s Lee Roussel won Class 1A Coach of the Year after winning the program’s first state title in seven years.
