Loui siana Tech baseball coach Cooper Fouts has been promoted to Associate Head Coach, replacing longtime coach Mitch Gaspard who recently retired.
Fouts, in his previous three seasons working with Bulldog pitchers, has coached two All-Americans (Ethan Bates and Ryan Harland), three All-Region selections, six All-Conference USA selections, along with five MLB Draft picks (Ryan Jennings, Kyle Crigger, Cade Gibson, Landon Tomkins, and Sam Brodersen), and two undrafted free agents ( Jarret Whorff and Jackson Lancaster).
Louisiana Tech’s pitching ranked 29th nationally in strikesto- walk ratio, 32nd in strikeouts per game, 38th in WHIP, and broke the single- season record in strikeouts with 619 in the 2024 season.
Tech head coach Lane Burroughs said of Fouts’ promotion, “Cooper brings an energy and passion to his unprecedented work.
He’s one of the hardestworking coaches I’ve ever been around. He has been loyal to Louisiana Tech baseball and brings it every day. Coop never has a bad day and his enthusiasm for his craft whether it’s recruiting, coaching, or building relationships is unmatched. He absolutely deserves this promotion and I’m excited to get to work with our staff and continue moving this program forward.”
Fouts said of his promotion, “My family and I are very thankful for the opportunity to continue to be a part of the Ruston and Louisiana Tech community. I am excited to continue to work with Coach Burroughs, the staff, and most importantly the players.”
