GSU Athletics partners with Lincoln Prep for ‘Prep Day at the G’
Grambling State Athletics entered a partnership with Lincoln Preparatory School beginning in the spring of 2024 as an opportunity to engage its closest K-12 school.
Since then, GSU Athletics has had the opportunity to host students on campus for various athletic events and activities, including a women’s basketball game and allowing Lincoln Prep students to engage with our student- athletes during our recent 2024 football schedule release.
And now, Grambling State Athletics will welcome Lincoln Prep students and administrators to campus on Sept. 7 for “Lincoln Prep Day at the G!” where Lincoln Prep students and administrators will be granted free admission to GSU football’s home opener versus Tuskegee.
Lincoln Prep Executive Director Gordan Ford, along with the game day sponsor, will do the coin toss prior to kickoff.
Lincoln Prep students and administrators must pick up their free ticket at Fan Day 2024 on Saturday by showing proof of enrollment or employment at Lincoln Prep from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the foyer of the Frederick C. Hobdy Assembly Center.
“Lincoln Preparatory School is proud of our longstanding partnership with Grambling State University, and we are very excited and thankful that GSU has decided to honor our Lincoln Prep family with our very own ‘Day at the G,’” Ford said.
Grambling State will also be offering any Lincoln Prep juniors and seniors in attendance at Fan Day 2024 to apply for admission to GSU and have their admission fee waived.
“As champions for access to higher education, it’s essential that we provide opportunities for prospective students to experience our campus life firsthand,” Associate Vice President of Enrollment Management Gavin Hamms said. “While Lincoln Prep is right next door, we want their students to know that they don’t need to relocate to find a fresh and exciting college experience. They can discover that new experience right here at Grambling State University.”
“This year as an athletics department, we are highly focused on reengaging our community not only as fans in the stands but as future students of Grambling State University. I look forward to hosting other local K-12 schools on campus throughout this academic year,” said Vice President for Intercollegiate Athletics Trayvean Scott.
