Hoops schedule released by GSU
GRAMBLING — Grambling State University head women’s basketball coach Freddie Murray announced the 2021-22 women’s basketball schedule on Thursday, which features two non-conference home games and a trip to Las Vegas to play in the UNLV Thanksgiving Tournament.
Grambling State went 10-10 overall and 8-6 in Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) play last year. The Lady Tigers defeated Alabama A&M in the quarterfinals of the conference tournament before losing to eventual tournament champion, Jackson State, in the semifinals.
The Lady Tigers begin the 2021-22 season on Tuesday, Nov. 9 at the Fredrick C. Hobdy Assembly Center against Louisiana-Monroe. GSU wraps up its non-conference home campaign on Nov. 17 against Northwestern State.
Grambling State finishes the non-conference slate with nine straight road games to conclude the 2021 portion of its schedule.
The Lady Tigers travel to Gainesville, Fla. on Nov. 19 to take on Florida and two days later, Nov. 21, visit Tallahassee to meet Florida State.
Grambling State travels to the UNLV Thanksgiving Classic in Las Vegas Nov. 27 and 28 and will meet Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC) and UNLV, respectively. The Lady Tigers close out the first month of the season on Nov. 30 at New Mexico.
A trip to Wichita State begins the December portion of the schedule (Dec. 11) and GSU visits Auburn (Dec. 18), UAB (Dec. 21) and New Orleans (Dec. 29) to wrap up the month.
Grambling State opens the new year and the SWAC portion of its schedule on Jan. 3 and 5 against Prairie View A&M and Texas Southern, respectively, at the Fredrick C. Hobdy Assembly Center.
The Lady Tigers travel to SWAC newcomers Bethune-Cookman and Florida A&M on Jan. 8 and 10, followed by three straight home games against Southern (Jan. 15),Mississippi Valley State (Jan. 22) and Arkansas-Pine Bluff (Jan. 24).
GSU concludes the month of January with back-to-back road games against Jackson State (Jan. 29) and Alcorn State (Jan. 31).
Grambling State opens February with home games against Alabama State (Feb. 5) and Alabama A&M (Feb. 7), followed by road trips to Texas Southern (Feb. 12), Prairie View A&M (Feb. 14) and Southern (Feb. 19).
The Lady Tigers conclude the month of February with home contests against Florida A&M (Feb. 26) and Bethune-Cookman (Feb. 28) and will wrap up regular season play with road swings to Alabama A&M (March 3) and Alabama State (March 5).
