So nice, she earned it twice.

Ruston High senior Jaliyah McWain was voted by coaches as the District 2-5A MVP for the second-straight season after leading the Lady Bearcats to an undefeated district title and a run to the Division I Non-select quarterfinals.

McWain averaged 13 points, 6 rebounds, and 5 steals this season.

Fellow senior Zaccheya Jackson, who averaged 13 points, 5 rebounds, and 3 steals after returning to play following a torn ACL last season, made First Team. Kiersynce McNeal made Second Team as well.

Ella Kate Jones and A’Nyia Moore both made honorable mention All-District for Ruston.

“I tell my team all the time, the more successful your team is, the more recognition is given. That is no different for this year’s All District teams,” Ruston head coach Meredith Graf said. “It is important for people to realize the teams are based off of only five district games, not the season as a whole. This can make it especially difficult for the nomination and voting process for coaches. I was happy to see the district coaches vote for so many of our Ruston kids and I believe each player on the All-District teams from all the schools are very deserving and had a great impact to our district as a whole.”

Along with players receiving recognition, Graf was named District 2-5A Coach of the Year for leading Ruston to a 5-0 mark in district play.
