Ruston lands at No. 6 in Week 9 prep polls

Ruston (6-2, 1-2 district) will have to earn its way back into the top five in Class 5A after the Louisiana Sports Writers Association Week 9 prep poll ranked the Bearcats at No. 6 – dropping three spots from their No. 3 position last week.
The Bearcats lost their second straight game in a 40-36 battle with Alexandria Senior High – moving up two spots respectively to No. 4 – in a game that came down to the end. The Trojans put up 420 yards of offense and went 6-10 on third down, scoring touchdowns on four of their last five drives of the contest as senior running back JT Lindsey had 138 rushing yards and 3 total TDs.
Ruston got a season-high 143 rushing yards and 3 TDs from senior tailback Jordan Hayes, along with 161 total yards from senior quarterback Josh Brantley.
Edna Karr and Neville each remained at No. 1 and No. 2 in Class 5A, respectively, while Acadiana moved from No. 4 to No. 3 ahead of week nine.
Ruston will look to get back on track this Friday in a Homecoming matchup against the Pineville Rebels (3-5, 0-3 district) at Hoss Garrett Stadium.
