After a dominant showing on Saturday to close out its three-game Texas trip, Ruston (5-0) remains the No. 1 team in the Louisiana Sports Writers Association prep polls ahead of week six.

The Bearcats, holding the state’s longest active win streak (19), had no trouble with Stephenville, Texas, on Saturday in a 63-17 victory – churning out nearly 600 yards of total offense. Ruston scored touchdowns on nine of its 10 possessions of the game, with quarterback Josh Brantley throwing for a career-high 251 yards – in only two and a half quarters – and 3 touchdowns. Sophomore tight end Ahmad Hudson had 2 touchdowns and 112 yards receiving and senior wide receiver Joran Parker caught a 67-yard touchdown as well.

With an unblemished record in non-district play, Ruston opens District 2-5A play on the road Friday at Ouachita (3-1).
