The Louisiana Tech bowling team opened its 2021-22 season with a resounding victory in Dallas over the weekend, including a perfect 300 game.
DALLAS — Junior bowler Danielle Jedlicki registered the first perfect game of her collegiate career in game five of the SWIBC II on Sunday to boost Louisiana Tech to its first tournament victory of the 2021-22 season.
Louisiana Tech opened the 2021-22 campaign at the SWIBC in Dallas, this weekend. The tournament consisted of a Saturday event and a Sunday event. Tech competed in five regular team games and eight Baker games in Saturday’s event to finish third. Senior Lindsay Manning finished the event second individually to earn a spot on the Saturday alltournament team.
Sunday’s event was made up of seven team games with the champion determined by total pin count. The Lady Techsters won the event with a total of 6,779 total pins. Tech had a second team compete in the JV portion where the Techsters placed second with a 5,940.
Jedlicki bowled 12 straight strikes for the perfect 300 in game five on Sunday. She would go on to be named the tournament MVP after finishing first individually with a pinfall of 1,505 (220-205-182-182-300-210-205). Junior transfer Patricia Rosales also earned a spot on the Sunday all-tournament team after placing fifth with a 1,377 (201-176-192- 190-204-224-190).
Junior Allie Leiendecker 1,315 (173-170-194-160-198-227-193, 11th) and senior transfer Averi Brown 1,291 (200-194-167-156-212-212-150, 12th) also placed in the top 15 for Tech at the SWIBC.
Junior Sara Howell-Floyd led Tech’s second unit after placing 23rd with a combined 1,183 (159- 202-182-193-174-145-128).
“This weekend, the Lady Techsters competed in two separate USBC tournaments. Two teams traveled consisting of six bowlers on each team. Both teams struggled during the first tournament on Saturday,” said head coach Matt Nantais. “The varsity team had a rough start to the Sunday tournament as the team was down 200 pins after four games. In the fifth game, Danielle Jedlicki led the team with a 300, a perfect game, and the team shot 1,099. The next game, the team shot the highest set in school history with a 1,110. The varsity team finished first after the seven team games.
“I am extremely proud of how both teams competed today. This week was all about team chemistry as we have added three new players to our roster in Allyson Sand, Patricia Rosales and Averi Brown. We look forward to building off this weekend as we start NCAA competition at Tulane in two weeks,” Nantais continued.
Tech bowling will next compete at the Tulane-hosted Colonial Lanes Classic from Oct. 22-24.
