Amanda Stone, head coach of Louisiana Tech tennis for the past seven seasons, has accepted the head coaching position at the University of North Texas.
Stone leaves Ruston as the all- time winningest coach in program history, having compiled an overall record of 86-69.
She was recently named Conference USA and Wilson/ ITA Southern Region Coach of the Year after guiding Tech to a 20-6 season as well as its highest ever national ranking at 64th in the country.
“I want to thank Amanda for the job she has done in elevating our tennis program over the past seven years,” said Director of Athletics/ Vice President Eric A. Wood. “She brought stability and a competitive edge to a program that achieved accomplishments never done before on and off the court. We are excited about the current trajectory of LA Tech Tennis and look forward to finding the right individual to continue the momentum of the program.”
Under her leadership, the Lady Techsters had their best C- USA finish while advancing to the semifinals of the conference tournament for the first time ever.
The program finished the season ranked No. 73 by the ITA, another first. A national search for the next Lady Techster Tennis head coach is underway with no definitive timeline.
