Tech soccer signs JUCO transfer

Louisiana Tech soccer head coach Steve Voltz announced the signingofCharlieCooper, a transfer forward from Copiah-Lin Community College, on Monday.

Cooper, a native of Corby, England, spent the past two seasons with the Lady Wolves where she appeared in 27 matches with 26 starts, totaling 68 points on 31 goals and six assists.

“ We are excited to add another dynamic goal scorer to our attack,” said Voltz. “Charlie brings experience and will push to compete right away.”

Cooper earned First Team All-MACCC and was named to the NJCAA All-Region 23 team as a sophomore, amassing 39 points on 18 goals and three assists.

She finished as one of the top goal scorers in NJCAA Division II Women’s Soccer and was one of the top three goal scorers in the Mississippi Association of Community Colleges Conference (MACCC).

“I chose Louisiana Tech for the professionalism of the coaching and the amazing technology at the university,” said Cooper. “It is the perfect college to continue my soccer career. I feel privileged by the offer, and I cannot wait to get started.”

Cooper helped Co-Lin to back-to-back postseason appearances, becoming the all-time leading goal scorer for the Lady Wolves.

The two-time Co-Lin Offensive MVP and Co-Lin Player of the Year was also a First Team All-MACCC and NJCAA All-Region 23 Team selection as a freshman.

Prior to attending Co-Lin, Cooper prepped at Northampton Town Women where she recorded 38 goals in 27 appearances in 2021-22.
