Techsters’ newcomer O’Bryant makes USA Junior Team

INDIANAPOLIS — Incoming Lady Techster, Annalise O’Bryant, qualified for the Junior Team USA on Thursday afternoon.
“We are excited to have another Team USA member on our roster. We have 4 athletes that are currently on Team USA or have been on Team USA on our roster for this upcoming year,” said Tech coach Matt Nantais.
“ It shows the quality of athletes that we are bringing to Louisiana Tech. Watching Annalise compete this week to make Team USA was a sight to see. Her competitiveness, and will to win is unmatched, I can’t wait for the season to start,” he added.
O’ Bryant is no newcomer to wearing stars and stripes. After finishing the Junior Gold Championships on Thursday, O’Bryant was named to the Junior Team USA for the fifth time in her career.
Only 12 girls qualify for Junior Team USA by earning their way into the top four after 26 games and the champions and co- champions in each division earn spots on Junior Team USA. If the champion or cochampion already earned one of the four spots available in qualifying, the next athlete based on the qualifying standings after 26 games will qualify.
The tournament consisted of four qualifying rounds, an advancer round, f inal advancers round, and a matchp l ay bracke t . O’Bryant finished the first round with 791 ( 172, 206, 228, 185) total pins while averaging 197.75. During round two, added 863 (194, 210, 255, 204) to her total bringing her average up to 206.75.
O’Bryant continued her stride in round three and added 780 (177, 170, 214, 219) pins. With 792 ( 196, 211, 161, 224) pins in round four, O’Bryant finished seventh with an average of 201.63 to earn her way into the advancer round.
In the advancer round, O’Bryant played in four games totaling 907 (181, 178, 164, 202, 182) pins. With only four more games to head into bracket play, O’Bryant stepped it up and finished with 1,049 (169, 267,157, 222, 234) pins averaging 199.31 and totaling 4,133 pins in the 26 games leaving her in fifth place and qualifying for Junior Team USA.
Junior Team USA competes in several prestigious events all over the world, such as the World Youth Championships, and many others as well.
