The preliminary plat for a new subdivision at the corner of East Kentucky Avenue and Rhody Drive is on its way to Ruston’s Board of Aldermen for action.
The Ruston Police Department is doing some internal reorganization that divides administrative responsibilities among more officers, with the goal of providing better service to the community, police Chief Steve Rogers said Wednesday.
Only hours before more than 1,000 people peacefully marched from Louisiana Tech’s campus to Ruston’s City Hall in memory of a black Minnesota man who died in police custody, Mayor Ronny Walker pledged to form a committee “driven by citizens who really want to see change” to address remnants of racism in the city.
The world was turned upside down when the COVID-19 pandemic hit in March. Nobody was left unscathed, including police agencies. The Ruston Police Department, along with Lincoln Parish residents, had to adapt to a new normal in the COVID era.
Ruston’s Board of Aldermen will be asked Monday to take the next step toward long-sought improvements to Monroe Street, portions of Dan Reneau Drive, Homer Street and other transportation connectors in the area.
Ruston residents who did not receive a telephone call seeking their opinion on the city’s possibly offering broadband internet service can still weigh in on the idea via an online survey posted on the city’s website, ruston.org.
