A Ruston man found guilty in August of aggravated flight from a Lincoln Parish sheriff ’s deputy has pleaded not guilty to a formal charge of being a habitual offender.

With fall quarter just around the corner, the Louisiana Tech University Band of Pride percussion section took advantage of the shade from the noble trees within Tech’s historic Quadrangle to get some practice in prior to its first official performance. With the different drum units rockin’ the Quad on a lazy, summer afternoon, the mood was certainly set for the upcoming Bulldog football season as well as other special events in September. Tech’s first home football game is scheduled for Sept. 11 against Southeastern Louisiana University.

D’Arbonne Range Riders new host of Run for the Diamonds Races

Ruston and the surrounding area will be treated to another weekend of rodeo action at the North Louisiana Exhibition Center Saturday through Monday with the D’Arbonne Ranger Riders hosting the Run for the Diamonds Annual Barrel Race.

VOTER REGISTRATION DEADLINE

• Parish residents who are not now registered to vote and wish to participate in the Oct. 9 referendum have until Sept. 8 to register in either in person at the Lincoln Parish Registrar of Voters office, by mail or via applications submitted through the Office of Motor Vehicles, parish Registrar of Voters Sharon Parnell said.

Practice Makes Perfect

The Louisiana Tech Band of Pride percussion section is gearing up for the school year by rehearsing its music in the quadrangle under the cool shade of the trees. The band is gearing up for a busy fall under new Director of Bands Christopher P. Heidenreich.
