Editor’s Note: Every student has a place, every student has a particularly important purpose, and this is the second in a series of articles that will cover the contributions of Unsung Heroes of the Jackson Parish School System.
The View from My Window Charity exhibition is now open at Ruston Artisans. Area art enthusiasts can celebrate the beauty of Ukraine through the work of Igor Letinsky. The images allow viewers to experience the life and enduring spirit of Ukraine and its people through the prophetic watercolor paintings of Letinsky. Vallery Maravi hears from Tyler Storms, agent and attorney for Letinsky, who provides insight into the Ukranian situation due to his connection through the Rotary in Ukraine where Letinsky remains. JONESBORO — The Jackson Parish School District recently received one of 36 grants from the state of Louisiana named the “Reimagine Schools” grant, which would benefit a school whose students’ needs aren’t being met at a proper rate.
After a long and spirited discussion in a Louisiana House of Representatives education committee, a bill that would have banned public school teachers from talking about sexual orientation or gender identity, including their own, in the classroom failed to make it to the House floor and is likely finished.
Louisiana State Police Lt. Col. Kenny VanBuren finally said it: “There are questions that we will never be able to find the answers to because of exactly what most people feel: There was a cover-up, and there was a push to distort that which was.”
