Tech legend, NFL linebacker Jaylon Ferguson dead at 26

Record-setting Louisiana Tech sack master Jaylon Ferguson has died at the age of 26, according to a statement released by the Baltimore Ravens Wednesday morning.

Venters celebrated for runner-up in state contest

While attending its state convention, the VFW Auxiliary for Post 3615 was surprised with the announcement that Millie Venters, winner of the local and district “Get Excited for the Red, White and Blue” competition, earned second place honors among all contestants across the state. For the contest, the 2022 graduate of Cedar Creek School was challenged to video herself performing the Star Spangled Banner, an anthem known as one of the more difficult songs to sing. Gathered at the Louisiana Tech University Lady of the Mist to celebrate her achievement are (left to right) VFW Commander-Elect Tom Boniol, Venters’ mother Jennifer Wade, Venters, Cedar Creek Music Teacher Cindy Hockenjos and Auxiliary President Debbie Holmes. Ambrose recognized at state VFW convention

During the 2022 State VFW Auxiliary Convention held in Alexandria, Ruston High School senior Maggie Ambrose was recognized for her first place finish in the Young American Creative Art Contest. The Louisiana Department of the VFW Auxiliary presented Ambrose with a plaque and check before asking her to address the convention with remarks related to her award-winning art. Ambrose is seen with (left to right) Department President Ramel Fields, her parents Allison and Jason Ambrose, and Auxiliary Scholarship Chair Christine Sloan. Ambrose’s artwork entitled “The Cost” is currently posted on the VFW Auxiliary–National Organization Facebook page and remains in the running for the national prize which will be announced in Kansas City in July.
